En-ROADS includes an estimate of the economic impact of climate change in the Baseline Scenario that Current Scenarios are built from. This is modeled as a climate damage function, a reduction in average GDP per capita due to temperature rise. The default damage function in En-ROADS comes from a study by Burke et al. 2018. Users can turn the damage function off or choose a different formulation under Simulation > Assumptions > Economy: Economic impact of climate change.

Details of how the economic impact of climate change and social cost of carbon are modeled in En-ROADS can be found in the “Damage to GDP” section of the En-ROADS Technical Reference.
